I'm not very familure with the correct terms for different valves. When they refer to power beyond, is that like going from the outlet on one valve to the inlet on another valve. I have a LA480 loader and want to add a grapple without spending $900 for a remote.

power beyond means that when your valve is in neutral position fluid still flows through it. you can come off that valve and run a hydraulic line to another valve for a remote , but then you must pipe back into return line.hope this helps ....

Most people seem to find reasons to use extra valves after they get them. The best or best value as hard as it may be to swallow is to buy the double set-up. Might be nice for a top and tilt or to run a three point lift assembly with hyrdalics. ....

There are a few things to know about series circuits that can save your hydraulic system's life. You need to have a Power Beyond ported valve to be able to add a circuit. As stated, the PB port allows a pressure circuit to be added beyond the valve. The PB port supplies full pressure flow when the valve is in nuetral. To hook up a PB circuit; run from the PB port on the FEL valve to the inlet port on the auxiliary valve, from the return ( or outlet ) port on the auxiliary valve to a tee in the return line of the FEL valve, or directly to the reservoir. It is important to note that you can't hook up a second valve by running from the return (or outlet ) on the first valve to the inlet on the second. You need a PB port.

The PB of your FEL valve probably runs to the tractor hydraulic block PB port. If that is the case, your second valve also needs a power beyond port. Run from the PB port of the second valve back to the tractor hydraulic block where the FEL PB was originally plumbed. That will complete the tractor hydraulic circuit.

Hope this helps. It's pretty staight forward if you diagram the words (I know there are too many of them). I used this to add rear remotes to my 7800. The entire set-up cost about $250. ....

How can I tell if I have a power beyond outlet. On one side, the inlet, it is marked "IN" on one connection and "OUT" on the other, and "OUT" by a plug. There is also a hose connection on the outlet section. It is not marked. ....

You have 4 work ports on the valve that run to the FEL cylinders. If you have a PB set up in the tractor circuit, there will be three hoses plumbed from the tractor; 1. out of the tractor hyd bolck to the FEL valve,2. from the FEL valve return ( out ) to the tractor transmission, 3. from the FEL valve PB port back to the tractor hyd block. Check the owners manual for the loader and the tracotr. The ports on the hyd block are identified for "out" and "PB return". The only confusion will be the two ports on the hyd block. On my set-up, the port towards the rear of the tractor was the PB port.

If it's still not clear, talk to your dealer. They can identify the ports for you. The manual is pretty clear too. Good Luck ....

Web, there is another way you can accomplish the same thing, probably cheaper and easier.

If you get a 2-position, 6-way selector solenoid-operated valve, and install it between the existing hydraulic valve for the FEL and the bucket cylinders (bucket curl circuit) then with just a click of a switch on your existing loader control joystick toggles back & Forth between curling the bucket and opening or closing the grapple.

We do this with our units for when we put snowplows on in place of the bucket for the winter. Then the existing side-to-side function of the joystick become the plow's power angle control. The existing up/down of the FEL itself is unchanged in either position of the valve, only the curl function changes.

It makes it real handy leaving everything on one control.

Best of luck. ....
